Wireless Technologies

Infrared – It is light made up of electromagnetic energy. Remote controls for TV, DVD players and other devices use infrared. It is a way of devices communicating. E.g. in a remote control, when you press a button the processor recognises what command you want the TV to make. So it creates a message in binary code and sends it to the TV. The TV then receives it and carries out the command, whether this be changing the channel or increasing the volume. Binary code is used therefore the complexity of the command will change the amount of time that processor needs to create the command so this effects speed. It isn’t noticed about though, because the time differences are so short.
Bluetooth – Like infrared, Bluetooth is a way of devices communicating. Many things these days use Bluetooth, like mobile phones and satellite navigation systems. Bluetooth has a wave length of 12.5cm, so if two devices are connected and they are more than 12.5cm away from each other, then they cannot continue with the transfer. The frequency of Bluetooth is at 2.4GHz.
3G – 3G stands for third generation. It is mainly used in mobile phones e.g. iPhone 4. 3G lets you surf the web at higher speeds, also it improves the quality and speed of streaming video and audio online.  Download speeds are also good on a 3G network. 3G speeds can go up to 7.2MB. That’s the same speed as some broadband speeds.

IEEE 802.11 – This is a standard that a wireless device has to go though so that it can work. There are various types of 802.11. These include ‘a’, ‘b’, ‘g’, and ‘n’. Routers and other wireless devices usually have the type of 802.11 standards they use. Most routers use G at the moment, but N is becoming more popular.

My smart phone used the wireless technology of 3G and Wi-Fi.

There are different types of security that you could use for your wireless network. Some include WEP, WPA and WPA2. A WEP key is the simplest form of security. It is a code made up of numbers and letters and you have to put this code in when you want to join a network. It’s the easiest to crack. WPA and WPA2 are the most advanced types of security. They encrypt the router and make it hard to hack into the network.

Future Smartphone

5 years ago when the HTC Mango was released the world was shocked because they never thought that anyone had the technology to create a master piece like Apples Bolt in 2016. Over the past 5 years mobile phones have been offering amazing basis of mobile apps, social networking, SLR quality pictures, amongst other things. While higher end phones focus on that and more, like improving the processor speed and graphics quality. This means that we have had a very strenuous task of thinking of improvements and releasing a new and improved phone every year.

So this time, 2021. We’ve done it all over again. The HTC Plumb will be our flagship model and it’s our way of showing what technology is out there and how it’s all inside a little box, no bigger than the average hand. The new phones design is a different, distinctive look and feel to it. The Plumb has got more of a boxy build to it, compared to our past smartphones. The outside is composed of bulletproof plastic. And the components inside are composed of a self-cooling metal called Titainisium. A prototype of the phone has been tested by the US Marines and the British SAS. They have both said that the phone did very well to withstand the brutal, onslaught of punishment that they gave the phone. So in a normal person’s life, the mobile phone would be able to cope with the bashes and bumps that come with day-to-day life.

The new LED backlit display has an impressive 690x1010 resolution LCD screen, so that anything you see will look as if it’s real. Photographs look remarkable on the display. The display has been improved from last year’s HTC Grape. This innovative new display has now set the benchmark for displays on all mobile devices. Nothing before the Plumb has ever made something look so good.
Most of the the improvements are on the inside of the phone. Firstly we have invented a new processer with 8 cores running at 3.0GHz each. This makes it the most powerful phone that has ever been created. Also the have crammed 8GB of RAM into the plastic shell. This added with the processer, means that the Plumb can run an astonishing 40 apps at the simultaneously without crashing. 10 years ago this would have been stuff of dreams, but here at HTC, we have made the impossible possible. We have also added a 2TB SSD the size of a thumb the the Plumb. Storage has become one of the biggest needs these days, because people are using their mobiles phone as video cameras more and more. Also the extra space can be used to go on apps, which have tripled in size over the past 10 years.

One of the most important features of any mobile phone is the battery life. In the Plumb the battery life has been increased by 5 hours. That means that its standby time is now 535 hours. This makes the battery life the 3rd best on the market, trailing closely behind the Blackberry Air and the Samsung Raptor. The battery life now means that you can play games for a 24 hour period, play music for 170 hours and play 30 hours of HD video. Major HTC fans have long awaited for the battery life from one of our models to be released. There you have it!

The phone will mainly be used for business people that need to access their information quickly and in one place. Well we have tailored a new operating system that focuses on organization. Different formats of files can be stored in the same folder and can be accessed quickly because you can place any file or folder anywhere on the phone.

When we designed the HTC Plumb our main priority was to add as many features as possible to the smartphone and show the world what technology is around in 2021. As you may have seen on our adverts we have added a lot of sensors to the phone, these include: G-Force sensors, humidity sensors, temperature sensors, air percentage sensors and altitude sensors. These may be useful if your climbing a mountain or it’s a hot day.

In 2008 Apple introduced the App Store. Ever since then apps have been one if the major selling points of smartphones. We have refurbished our ‘Application Warehouse’ so it has a more attractive look. The Application Warehouse has over 200,000 apps and counting. We still haven’t caught up to Apples gigantic figure of 900,000 apps, but we still off a wide range of apps that all run on the HTC Plumb.

Overall, the HTC Plumb is a benchmark of what smartphones can do today. Next year we will be back with a new model that will blow your mind. But until then you have this to keep your life running smoothly.
